SKIN’s Pre-Cancerous Lesion Treatment Program
Actinic keratoses are scaly or crusty bumps that form on sun exposed areas such as the face, scalp, arms, and hands. They range in size from as small as a pinhead to an inch across. They may be light, dark, tan, pink, red, or a combination of colours. Some are the same colour as ones’ skin, and are sometimes more easily identified by touch than by sight. Occasionally, these lesions may itch or produce a pricking or tender sensation, especially after being in the sun. They may disappear only to reappear later. Actinic keratoses are related to past sun exposure and develop more often in fair-skinned people. If left untreated, these lesions can increase in size and develop into skin cancer, and are therefore considered a “pre-cancer”. SKIN MediSpa offers an advanced Pre-Cancerous Lesion Treatment Program using a variety of technologies.
A SKIN specialist will review previous and current skin care, perform a detailed skin analysis, take digital imaging of the lesion(s), discuss general health history, and review all information with our medical director with over 20 years of experience, before recommending a customized treatment program.
Prescription Medications may be prescribed in conjunction with SKIN Treatments to maximize the effects of the treatments and ensure quicker results.
SKIN’s Blu-U Photodynamic Therapy offers clinically proven improvement in actinic keratoses conditions. This revolutionary technology is not a laser treatment, and uses a safe, cool, visible blue light that provides a non-invasive and pain-free treatment for these lesions. Adding the topical prescription Levulan prior to this treatment acts to photosensitize the skin to dramatically enhance the effectiveness of the photodynamic therapy in targeting the pre-cancerous cells.
SKIN’s Epidermal Face and Body Peels contain a unique blend of lactic acid, kojic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, enzymes and other nutrients in various proportions. Application of these special blends infuse the skin with much needed nutrients and active ingredients that cause the upper levels of the epidermis to slough off over the days following the treatment. The procedure takes 20 minutes and patients can immediately return to regular activities.
Patients can expect to help prevent dangerous cancer cells from developing, undo years of sun-damage and end the uncomfortable itching associated with lesions.
As individual programs will vary from client to client, the associated cost will vary as well. However, a quote will be provided during the initial assessment process.
