SKIN MediSpa offers a revolutionary treatment for patients seeking a non-surgical solution to improve the appearance of their submental fullness, sometimes referred to as a “double chin”.
Submental fullness, sometimes referred to as “double chin”, is a common yet undertreated facial aesthetic condition that affects both men and women. This condition can be influenced by several factors including aging, genetics and weight gain, and is often resistant to diet and exercise alone.
Benefits of this treatment
- Eliminates submental fat under the chin
- Contributes to a more defined jawline
- Provides aesthetic improvement to your profile
Belkyra™ (deoxycholic acid) injection is a Health Canada approved injectable treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness, sometimes referred to as “double chin”.
Known as Kybella in the US, the active ingredient in Belkyra™ is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
When injected into the fatty tissue under your chin, Belkyra™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
Prior to Treatment
Prior to treatment, each client is scheduled for a consultation with our medical director, who is currently the only physician trained and authorized to use BelKyra in Northern Ontario. A customized treatment program based on individual client characteristics and goals will be created during the consultation process and a price quote will be provided.
During your treatment sessions, Belkyra™ will be injected into the fat under your chin through various injection sites dictated by your customized treatment plan.
The most common side effects of treatment with Belkyra are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. These are temporary and should subside within a few days.
Patients typically experience visible results in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. Up to 6 treatment sessions spaced one month apart may be required to obtain optimal aesthetic improvement.
