Dr. Scott K. M. Barr is a Royal College certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in nonsurgical and surgical aesthetic medical treatments. His medical aesthetic knowledge and technical skills have established him as a Canadian expert in both surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic procedures. With a base of 50,000+ patients from all over Canada, patient referrals from past and present clients fuel the ongoing growth in Dr. Barr’s surgical and nonsurgical practice.
Dr. Barr has specialized in aesthetic procedures since 1998. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Dr. Barr’s techniques and experience ensure a dramatic improvement while retaining a natural looking outcome in both rejuvenation and enhancement procedures. He goes beyond just restoring youthfulness or enhancing features for his patients by considering the surrounding features and characteristics of the treatment area to ensure optimal balance, proportion and symmetry.
As Medical Director of SKIN MediSpa, Dr. Barr is committed to innovation in the aesthetic industry. Dr. Barr is also founder and Medical Director of Barr Plastic Surgery and the Northern Ontario Surgical Centre. Education and Training
Dr. Barr attended Western University in the Bachelor of Science program before being accepted early into the Doctor of Medicine program at the University of Toronto. Returning to the University of Western Ontario for his Internship and Plastic Surgery Residency, Dr. Barr earned his Plastics Surgery Specialization Certification in 1993. Pursuing his special interest in the area of Facial Surgery and Reconstruction, Dr. Barr went on to complete an additional eighteen months of advanced training in Facial Reconstruction and Cranial Facial Trauma. This training and expertise have been obtained by very few Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons in Canada.
During his professional practice of 25+ years, Dr. Barr has pursued a relentless focus on international education and training in all areas of aesthetic medicine and surgery. He is committed to remaining at the forefront of nonsurgical and surgical aesthetics as this industry continues to evolve and introduce exciting new treatments and techniques for patients seeking aesthetic improvement.
Recognition
Committed to innovative and progressive advancements in aesthetic procedures, Dr. Barr is regularly invited to speak on the latest surgical and non surgical methods to restore youthfulness and optimize appearance of the face and body. Dr. Barr has also lectured on post operative recovery of the surgical patient and served as Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery and Chief of Surgical Subspecialties of the Sudbury Regional Hospital, a past president of the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and a member of the executive from 2016 to 2021, Dr. Barr has been a key note speaker for the Aesthetic Society, Canadian Laser Aesthetic Surgical Society, The Toronto Aesthetic Meeting, Cosmetic Update Meetings, Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Canadian Dermatology Association and has sat on advisory boards for multiple pharmaceutical and medical aesthetic technology and supply companies. Dr. Barr has been an international educator of plastic surgeons and dermatologists for Mentor, Johnson & Johnson, Allergan, Galderma, Prollenium, Merz, Renuvion, and SkinCeuticals.
