Prior to Treatment
Prior to your IPL treatment you will be scheduled for a complimentary consultation with a SKIN specialist who will review previous and current skin care, perform a detailed skin analysis, and discuss general health history before recommending a customized treatment program. As individual programs will vary from client to client, the associated cost will vary as well. However, a quote will be provided during the initial assessment process.
A topical numbing gel is applied to the treatment area, and left on for approximately an hour to ensure a more comfortable treatment. The targeted area is then treated with the IPL hand piece.
By delivering a broad spectrum of light through gentle pulse technology, SKIN’s IPL targets broken blood vessels as well as reds and browns. The energy breaks up pigmentation and speed cellular turnover. Patients may experience the sensation of heat or brief stinging from the pulses of energy.
Most patients experience a darkening of the hyperpigmentation immediately following the procedure, which flakes off over the next couple of weeks as the body’s natural healing process works to replace the damaged cells.
Most patients easily undergo the procedure. The pulses of combined energy can cause the sensation of heat or brief stinging. Some swelling and/or redness is usually visible immediately after the treatment. The redness subsides quickly but some swelling may continue to be slightly evident for up to 36 hours post-treatment.
The majority of clients notice a dramatic improvement in the overall appearance of their skin. Approximately 80 to 90% improvement in red and brown blotches and spots can be expected. Most patients also notice an improvement in overall skin texture and tone and a more rested appearance. While most facial veins can be treated successfully with just one treatment, patients treating hyperpigmentation may require additional sessions. Treatments remove existing discolouration but do not prevent future brown spots, redness or broken capillaries.
