Sculptra® utilizes a unique, non-invasive injectable implant that helps contour the skin and fill in skin depressions. Sculptra® injections contain tiny particles of Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), a biocompatible, biodegradable polymer derived from the Alpha Hydroxy (AHA) family of fruit acids. Sculptra® has a gradual effect that enhances collagen production over time, and delivers a smoother, more youthful looking you.
• Increases the volume of depressed areas
• Corrects signs of facial fat loss
• Reduces visible signs of folds, creases and lines
• Natural use of fruit acids
• Builds body’s natural collagen
• Long lasting effect
• Cost and time efficient
Sculptra® has been used extensively in Europe for over 10 years and is now approved in Canada, Europe, and over 20 other countries.
Sculptra® creates a youthful correction differently from other injectable fillers. The poly-L-lactic acid in the injections encourages the development of the patient’s own new collagen under the skin and adds volume over time. Sculptra® improves the look of aging naturally and gradually, creating a more radiant and youthful appearance.
Sculptra® can be used to improve all areas of the face including the forehead, around the eyes, around the lip area and lips, between the mouth and nose, and the cheek area. It can add volume to the cheeks, folds around the chin, and depressions around the eyes. It is also effective on the neck and lower neckline areas.
Prior to Treatment
Prior to treatment you will be scheduled for a complimentary consultation with our medical director, a board-certified Plastic Surgeon with expertise in aesthetic injections, as well as over 20 years experience in creating beautiful aesthetic outcomes for patients of all ages. Our medical director will recommend a custom treatment program based on each client’s medical history and needs. As the required volume required varies from client to client, a price quote will be provided at the time of consultation.
A treatment with Sculptra® will take roughly between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the area(s) being injected. Tiny amounts of Sculptra® are injected into the skin and the volume immediately fills depressed areas. It will seem as if the treatment has worked immediately. For a few days following the treatment, the body will absorb some of the water content in Sculptra® injections. Gradually, within a few days or weeks, depending on the patient, the dermal thickness of the treated area will begin to expand.
There is minor inflammation or swelling from the treatment as a result of the expansion of facial tissue. This normally resolves well within 24 hours but has been reported to last as long as 48 hours for some clients. Some patients may also experience some tenderness, itching or mild bruising at the injection site. Most clients resume normal activities only a few hours after receiving treatment. Application of ice intermittently for a short period after the treatment will help reduce any swelling.
Results can be noticed gradually over the 3 months following treatment. The effects of the treatment can last anywhere from 18-36 months.
You should not use Sculptra® if you are allergic to any ingredient of the product or have a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. It should not be injected while you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area.
