About Restylane®, Restylane Fine Lines® and Perlane®

Restylane Fine Lines® is recommended for the correction of thin, superficial lines, for example the lines around the eyes and mouth, forehead lines, and smile lines.

Like Restylane®, Perlane® is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to add fullness like your body’s own hyaluronic acid. What makes Perlane® different is the average size of the particles and the depth of injection. On average, the gel particles in Perlane® are larger than those in Restylane®, which makes Perlane® appropriate for shaping facial contours and wrinkles that benefit from a deeper injection into the skin.

Prior to Treatment

Prior to treatment you will be scheduled for a complimentary consultation with our medical director with expertise in aesthetic injections, as well as over 20 years experience in creating beautiful aesthetic outcomes for patients of all ages. Our medical director will recommend a custom treatment program based on each client’s medical history and needs. As the required volume varies from client to client, a price quote will be provided at the time of consultation.

A treatment with any of these injectable fillers will take roughly between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the areas being injected. A mild localized anesthetic can be used to minimize or usually eliminate the pain associated with this type of treatment. The numbing effects will last anywhere from 15 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the anesthetic used. There is usually no pain experienced after the treatment.

There is minor inflammation or swelling from the treatment as a result of the expansion of facial tissue. This normally resolves well within 24 hours but has been reported to last as long as 48 hours for some clients. Some patients may also experience some tenderness at the injection site. Rare side effects may include swelling that lasts longer, unevenness or firmness in the area injected, and as with any injection, there may be a risk of infection.

Most clients resume normal activities only a few hours after receiving treatment. Application of ice intermittently for a short period after the treatment will help reduce any swelling. You should avoid activities that will strain your facial features for 48 hours following treatment as much as possible. For example, avoid activities such as strenuous laughing, using a straw, and chewing gum.

The Results

The duration of the correction achieved with any injectable filler is dependent on the type of filler used, and the area being treated. Individual patient preferences as well as differences in product characteristics is what will determine which product is best for each patient and this is discussed during the consultation process. Depending on the specific product used and the area of injection, temporary fillers usually produce results that last anywhere from 6-12 months.

Restylane®, Restylane Fine Lines® and Perlane® will not be administered to pregnant women or nursing mothers.
